Vendredi 25 octobre marks a sleepless dawn that carries Jungkook and Shelby from separate nights of isolation into an unplanned moment of care. At the Onyx Hotel in Ellensburg, Jungkook leaves Kayla after a restless night; later, on the university campus, he rushes to Shelby when she falls in the rain and takes her to her room. The encounter leads to a brief shared rest, but not to uninterrupted peace: at 07:45, he wakes to her panicked sleep.

The sleepless morning

At 06:30, Jungkook stands on the balcony of his room at the Onyx Hotel, smokes, and quickly crushes the cigarette. Kayla is asleep inside. After their night together, he has not slept; his thoughts have turned toward the Ares Garden and the urge to hit without stopping, though he does not go. Instead, he spends time imagining a new drawing, sketches by moonlight, and scrolls through Instagram before deciding to leave.

Shelby has also spent the night awake. She draws and finishes a book, then gets dressed to go outside. A white T-shirt on her desk chair catches her attention only after she puts it on: it belongs to Jungkook, and its familiar scent of spring immediately surrounds her. She pulls on black clothes, takes her skateboard, and leaves her room.

The fall and the room

The campus is still dark but lit, and Shelby rides alone until she sees Jungkook near the university gate. He has left the hotel and is walking through the quiet campus; when he sits on a bench and their eyes meet, she turns away. Their distance does not last. A sudden torrential rain surprises Shelby, and she slips from her skateboard, hitting the ground hard enough to cry out.

Jungkook hears her and runs from the bench. He helps her up and carries her into the University Student Dormitory. Soaked and cold, Shelby instinctively seeks warmth against him as he walks her to her room. Once inside, she retrieves her pajamas and changes in the bathroom; Jungkook removes his shoes and looks around. He notices posters for old films, including Alien, Footloose, Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope, and Grave of the Fireflies, then studies the sketchbook on her desk. He admires her drawing skill while observing that many of the pictures are somber, with a few exceptions.

Rest interrupted

After they settle in, Shelby lies beneath the covers to warm herself. Jungkook, wearing a hoodie, sits in her chair and closes his eyes; she eventually falls asleep too. The pause is brief. At 07:45, Jungkook wakes to Shelby’s distressed sounds and sees her shifting in her sleep, breathing unevenly and overwhelmed by panic. The rain has stopped outside, but the morning’s danger has given way to another form of distress. The date’s sequence thus links physical vulnerability and immediate care with the persistence of fear even after the two have reached shelter.
